There are constantly new construction projects being announced in the media, but every now and then there is one that truly catches our attention. A few years back, Edinburgh announced that in addition to other projects going on at the same time, they would be overhauling a 1960’s structure and turning it into a job centre. Many wondered what the developer could be thinking, but the immaculate plans and the number of jobs created spoke for themselves.
Restoring Edinburgh’s Past
The overhaul of the 1960’s building was proposed by developer Duddingston House Properties. Rather than creating the much needed job centre from the ground up, they felt that they could revamp a structure that was not being used. The plans would turn this building into an open office area covering 40,000 square feet. Not only would the structure now be usable, it would be green and environmentally friendly as well.
Haymarket Green as it was to be called would incorporate the use of solar powered heating and natural venting. Other green friendly measures were being taken and these, along with the fact that the building was so close to Haymarket Station led Duddingston House Properties to believe that this building would now be one of Edinburgh’s most sustainable.
Keep in mind that the fact that this project was taken on by a developer meant that substantial recruiting had to be done to find construction professionals to undertake the immense workload. This project was also being done at the same time that thousands of construction workers were still working on Edinburgh’s tram system. All of this means excellent news and no shortage of work for certified carpenters, bricklayers, and plasterers with a Construction NVQ in Edinburgh.
Construction NVQ Holders in Edinburgh Considered First
Since a project that undertakes the reconstruction of such an old building does pose some added danger, workers in possession of their Carpentry NVQ, Bricklaying NVQ, or Plastering NVQ are always considered first. Those with the certification as well as their CSCS card are often hired on the spot because they are seen as a major asset to employers.
Workers who come to an employer with a level 3 Edinburgh NVQ in Carpentry, Bricklaying, or Plastering let them know that they took enough pride in themselves and their work to become certified. Though the certification process is not difficult, not just anyone will receive their Carpentry, Plastering, or Carpentry NVQ in Edinburgh – you must be able to display competency, skill, and safety during your assessment. Professionals with a Construction Edinburgh NVQ are priceless to employers and will always be considered above those without one.
